It Was So Nice, I made it Twice

I face the challenge of having to use my 2 gar garage as a work shop as well. So right now I am going through a "Garage Makeover" Problem is, at the end of the day I still have to park 2 cars in there.....
So Part 1 in my Garage Makeover is a suitable workbench. I found some plans over at Ana White's site. Was pretty simple and cheap to make. I liked it so much that I made another one. As usual, start with a plan and some coffee

I wont bore you with too much of the details. You know how it is. Measure and pre-cut, start drilling, blah blah. You get the idea

Basic Frame

Here comes the top

That's alot of damn screws!

I used some dark stain for the top and finished it off with a couple coats of varnish for a hard finish. I used Rustoleum Stain in the KONA finish. I must say, I really like their stain. But be careful, leave it on too long and it will be dark. I only used one coat on mine and left it on for only 15 minutes before I wiped it. They almost look black.

Time to relax and drink some more coffee

Anyway, I like having the 2 tables. I can move them around and position them however I see fit for the project at hand. And they are not too heavy to slide around either. I didn't apply any finish to the bottoms, mainly because I just didn't want to. Next step is to add some vices to them.

So this was Part 1 in my "Garage Makeover" series. I hope you stay tuned for the next part.........hint: 2 floor cabinets with connecting table in between, pegboard wall organizer for above the table and some other things that even I'm not sure of yet

  1. I like that your "hint" was totally giving it away. :-p

  2. AND... i never knew Rustoleum has a stain. I'll have to look into that (even though I'm REALLY starting to swear by "General Finishes" - there's only one store 'round here that carries it)

  3. Lol. I didn't know it either until I saw it at lowes. I haven't been able to find GF by me, so I checked out rustoleum. It's pretty amazing. Covers well and dries real fast
